Britney Calls Her Life Worse Than a Jail Sentence

    By: preme | On: 19 Nov, 2008

Britney Spears says that since her breakdown, her life has been worse than a jail sentence – but that she’s slowly healing one day at a time.

“I have really good days, and then I have bad days,” the singer, 26, admits in a new fly-on-the wall, 90-minute documentary, Britney: For The Record, to air in the U.S. Nov. 30 on MTV and in the U.K. Dec. 1 on Sky1.

Struggling to gain control of her life again after her public meltdown earlier this year, she says candidly: “Even when you go to jail, y’know, there’s the time when you’re gonna get out. But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like [the Bill Murray movie] Groundhog Day.”

She adds, “I’m having to pay for it for a really long time.”

Spears was hospitalized for mental evaluation in January, which resulted in her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, being granted sole custody of their sons, Preston and Jayden. Her father, Jamie Spears, also gained legal control over her affairs.

“If I wasn’t under the restraints that I’m under right now, I’d feel so liberated,” she says in the film, which follows the singer as she records and promotes her new album Circus. “When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear me, but they’re really not listening.”

A camera crew followed the singer for three months as she moved to pull her life back on track. “I wanted to make this film because I started to feel like I wasn’t being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in,” Spears said. “This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I’ve been through and where I’m headed.”

Overall, she says, “I think I’ve learned my lesson now, and enough is enough.”

Why is Monday night television a ratings nightmare?

    By: preme | On: 23 Oct, 2008

The awesome ladies from SarahConnorSociety.net  and Multipleverses.com have put together a fantastic article talking about the problems with Monday nights and it’s not just about Sarah Connor but all shows in general.  Specifically Kate, who wrote the article, makes a shit load of right on points about the packed schedule.  I’m not going to repost her entire article but I will post a couple quotes.

    • The ratings blogs and entertainment publications are in a quandry wondering what is going on. The answer is simple. MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!
    • A lot of people in the media have a pre-conceived idea of the average sci-fi fan. They see us as geeks, dweebs and dorks who go to comic book conventions. That may be but we are also the most educated and diverse group in the tv and movie viewing landscape.
    • The television landscape has gotten more and more crowded with more choices and people watching a great variety of programming than ever before. We also watch on more than just television. Online viewings, video on demand, iTunes, Amazon Unboxed and yes lets not forget the bane of the studios- torrent downloads mean we as viewers have other places to catch our favorite shows.

That’s all I’m going to steal from Kate but you should really read what is written there.  It makes sense and it should be spread around the net.  All networks need to rethink their programing and start respecting their demos because they don’t know what the deal is obviously.

Ricky Gervais offered an Oscar role?

    By: preme | On: 23 Oct, 2008

    Oscars Host Ricky Gervais

British comedian Ricky Gervais has been offered the role of a lifetime – hosting the Oscars. Apparently his agent was approached about the possibility of Gervais hosting next years Oscars, presumably after his amusing appearance at the Emmy’s. Sadly though, it looks like it’s just not going to happen.

Gervais has stated that he’d be too scared to host the Oscars, which is probably smart considering they’d end up getting him to read from a script rather than letting him run the show with adlibs. Many a career has been made and broken on Oscar’s stage so it would have been nice to see how the star of The Office handled it. Shame really… Me.. I say bring back Billy Crystal and make it the entertaining spectacle it once was.

Emmy winner Zeljko Ivanek coming to Heroes?

Most people haven’t heard of the name Zeljko Ivanek, but many would know him if they saw him. Ivanek is one of those actors who seems to play outstanding roles, yet never really becomes famous. He recently won an Emmy for his work on Damages with Glenn Close and will now be appearing as ‘The Hunter’ in Heroes.

Ivanek will be hunting several of the Heroes main characters midseason in the next stage of the seemingly never ending saga entitled ‘Fugitives’. Fugitives is due to start when the current chapter ‘Villains’ ends. We should see Ivanek on screen around January or February 2009.

He’s no stranger to great guest starring roles, having appeared on a slew of top rated shows – Lost, 24, Law and Order, John Adams, The Practice, Oz, Bones, Shark, Numb3rs, The West Wing and The Mentalist. Here’s hoping he can breathe some life into Heroes.
